Daily Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
My heart longs for many things in life,
but reality can be very disappointing.
I am frustrated day after day that I don’t
get what I think I am entitled to have.
But you promised that if I delight in you,
you will give me the desires of my heart.
So, first of all, Father, will you please
teach me how I can delight in you?
I recall that in the Psalms, David said:
“You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy; at
your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
What more could I possibly ask, Lord?
Apparently, I must desire the wrong things.
Teach me then, Jesus, what I should desire,
and take away my sense of entitlement.
But I’m only human, Jesus, so please
meet the deepest desires of my heart.
I will pray daily for these requests,
and I will praise you for your grace.
I pray you will give me your approval
and offer me comfort and security so
I will never depend on others for what
only you were always meant to provide.
And I pray, Jesus, that you will let me be
me, and please don’t judge me too harshly.
Every day I will pray for your love, joy, and
peace although I’m not entitled to these.
And mostly, dear Father, I want to have
a God-given purpose in life and a vision
which I pray will bring you great glory
as it brings me the greatest fulfillment.
Jesus, you have said that if I abide in
you, I can ask anything in your name.
So, I’m asking you to meet these needs,
and I ask all this in your precious name.
Amen
